In a significant step towards addressing the challenges faced by American Diaspora Jews making Aliyah, a special meeting was held on Sunday, March 30th between Meir Porush, the Minister for Jerusalem Affairs, and Duvi Honig, the founder and CEO of the Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce. The meeting centered around the difficulties American Jews encounter when moving to Israel, particularly related to leaving behind high-paying jobs and stable livelihoods due to their deep-rooted heritage beliefs and connections to the state of Israel.
The Chamber, which stands at the forefront of helping stimulate economic solutions and services for the Angelo community in Israel articulated the struggles that many Jewish breadwinners experience after sacrificing their established careers in the United States to resettle in Israel. Sadly glaring at the lack of services and support systems by the Israeli Government for the English-speaking community, which often finds itself at a disadvantage when trying to achieve economic self-sufficiency in Israel. Honig suggested the establishment of an Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce office in Jerusalem, which would serve as a vital resource for Americans transitioning to life in Israel. This office would aim to guide and empower olim of all sectors —new immigrants—by helping them find job opportunities, bring businesses to Israel, access government resources and provide training courses.

The envisioned Chamber of Commerce Business Center would provide a comprehensive suite of services, including dedicated caseworkers, training facilities, workshops, and conferences. Its offerings would be tailored specifically to the needs of American Jews, featuring English-speaking representatives who are well-versed in available programs and services. This initiative seeks to fill the current gap where English-speaking residents in Jerusalem are underserved.
Minister Porush expressed strong enthusiasm for this initiative and assured close collaboration with the Chamber to support the Anglo community. He underscored the importance of a social service business center aimed at empowering new immigrants and facilitating their successful integration into Israeli society.

Beyond providing immediate relief to individuals, the meeting also covered broader economic topics, such as fostering connections between American and Israeli business communities to spur economic development in Jerusalem and the wider State of Israel. Minister Porush emphasized the unique nature of the Jewish immigration experience, as no other country sees such a significant migration of successful professionals driven purely by heritage values. He concluded by underscoring the imperative to respond to this call and support these individuals in their transition to life in Israel.

Duvi presented Meir Porush with the Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce's latest publication, "Sefer Parnassah K'halacha," which has been meticulously Published into both Hebrew and English editions. This significant work delves into the intricate aspects of Jewish business law, offering valuable insights and guidance for those engaged in commerce.
