STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce was honored to participate in the U.S. Coast Guard Sector New York Change of Command Ceremony, celebrating the distinguished service of Captain Jonathan A. Andrechik as he concluded his tenure as Commander of Coast Guard Sector New York and welcoming Captain Doreen McCarthy as the command’s new leader.
Representing the Chamber, Founder and CEO Duvi Honig joined senior military leaders, elected officials, members of the maritime industry and community partners in recognizing Captain Andrechik’s outstanding leadership and years of service protecting one of the nation’s most vital economic gateways.
During his command, Captain Andrechik oversaw Coast Guard operations throughout the Port of New York and New Jersey—the busiest port on the East Coast and one of the most significant maritime trade hubs in the world. His leadership strengthened cooperation among government agencies, first responders, businesses and the maritime community while helping safeguard the commerce, infrastructure and supply chains that support millions of American jobs.
The Chamber congratulates Captain Andrechik on his appointment to the U.S. Coast Guard Personnel Service Center in Washington, D.C., where his leadership will expand from overseeing one of America’s most important ports to helping shape the Coast Guard’s workforce nationwide. The Personnel Service Center manages the recruitment, assignments, career development and support of the men and women who protect America’s ports, waterways and maritime transportation system, making it one of the Coast Guard’s most influential commands.
For the Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce, whose mission is “Uniting the World Through Commerce,” Captain Andrechik’s new national leadership role creates new opportunities to strengthen collaboration around workforce development, economic growth and public-private partnerships.
