For thousands of years, the Jewish people have drawn strength and blessing from Shabbat. More than a day of rest, Shabbat is a divine gift — an anchor that has carried us through exile, persecution, and hardship, granting inner peace to the individual, unity to the family, and resilience to the nation. As our sages taught: “More than the Jewish people have kept Shabbat, Shabbat has kept the Jewish people.” Today, at a time of national crisis and uncertainty, we are called to embrace Shabbat once again — this time in merit of the safe return of the hostages and the protection of our soldiers.
A New Global Initiative
The Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce is proud to introduce “Shabbat Vayinafash” — a worldwide call for Jews everywhere to keep Shabbos for the very first time, and to dedicate it in the merit of our brothers and sisters in captivity and those defending us on the front lines.
This initiative begins with a special program in Jerusalem on Shabbat Shuva, September 26–27, 2025 (4–5 Tishrei), hosted at the Cassia Hotel (formerly King Solomon Hotel).
Why Shabbat Shuva? It is the Shabbat between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur — a uniquely powerful Shabbat of repentance, renewal, and atonement for all the Shabbatot of the year. There is no more fitting time to begin a journey of connection, blessing, and unity.
A Taste Never to Be Forgotten
Shabbat Vayinafash invites every Jew to taste Shabbat — to discover its sweetness, to feel its light, and to see how keeping one Shabbos for the very first time can transform an entire home.

A Call From the Heart
The world feels heavy. Hostages remain in captivity, soldiers stand in danger, and Jewish communities worldwide grapple with fear, division, and uncertainty. But Shabbat calls us to pause. To stop the noise, silence the phones, set aside the burdens — and make space for the soul.
In doing so, we merit blessing not only for ourselves, but for our nation. As our sages taught: “If Israel keeps one Shabbat properly, they will be redeemed immediately.”
Now, for the first time, Jews around the world are being invited to keep Shabbos in unity, in prayer, and in faith — for the very first time in their lives, in merit of the hostages, for the protection of our soldiers, and for the blessing of the Jewish people.
