Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce Press Conference at UN’s Isaiah Wall, Headlined by Ambassador John Bolton
The Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce (OJC) Public Policy Committee will be hosting a press conference on Sunday, December 11th, at 1:00 pm, at the Isaiah Wall of the UN, urging President Obama to continue longstanding US policy opposing unilateral declaration of Palestinian statehood.
This press conference will be headlined by former UN Ambassador John Bolton; Morton Klein of the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA); Executive VP of OJC Dr. Joseph Frager, Odeleya Jacobs, Dr. Paul Brody and Duvi Honig of the OJC Public Policy Committee; and other dignitaries, who will articulate the danger of allowing the unilateral declaration of statehood to pass.
The UN Security Council is currently pondering a unilateral statehood resolution, and there is widespread fear that the United States will abandon nearly a half-century of bipartisan policy that opposed such unilateral declarations and left any determination up to negotiation between the Israeli and Palestinian governments.
President Barack Obama is under immense pressure to buck this precedent during the final months of his presidency. Former President Jimmy Carter and The New York Times editorial page, among others, have urged the president to not have his administration veto such a resolution, as the Obama administration and past administrations have done. Should US diplomats refrain from a veto, the resolution may pass, and severely harm prospects for a just and secure resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The conference is sponsored by ZOA and the National Council of Young Israel, and will serve as the official launch of the OJC’s “U.S.-Israel Business Alliance” mission to Israel on January 3rd and 4th, 2017.
