World Trade Week NYC is an annual nationwide celebration of international trade observed by business and trade-related organizations across the United States during May. The Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce is hosting an event as part of this celebration on May 22nd in New York City. This event is set to bring together business, civic, and trade leaders from various sectors to network and discuss the importance of international trade in today's global economy.
One of the highlights of the event will be the recognition of USA World Trade Leadership, which includes individuals such as US Acting Commissioner Troy Miller, the Senior Official Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. In his role, Miller leads over 60,000 employees and ensures the advancement of the agency's mission of counterterrorism, border security, and trade enforcement. He plays a crucial role in facilitating over $4 trillion in trade and the travel of over 410 million people through ports of entry.
Another honoree, AnnMarie Highsmith, the Executive Assistant Commissioner of the Office of Trade for U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Washington D.C., oversees the facilitation of over $3 trillion in legitimate trade each year.
Additionally, Edward Mermelstein, New York City’s Commissioner for International Affairs, will be recognized for acting as the head of the Mayor's Office for International Affairs, serving as the primary liaison between the city and the diplomatic community.
The event will provide an opportunity for attendees to network with high-level government officials, consul generals, and trade ministers from various countries. Exhibit tables will be available for organizations to showcase their products and services and engage in business-to-business interactions. The event will also feature a high-level panel discussion and a Q&A session with prominent trade organizations in the region.
World Trade Week NYC has an active network of more than 70 organizations in the New York metro region, which collaborate to promote international trade and economic development. The event aims to bring together ambassadors and world trade leaders to discuss the current state of global trade and explore opportunities for collaboration and growth. The high-level networking opportunities provided at the event will allow participants to establish valuable connections and explore potential business partnerships.
Government officials, business leaders, and trade experts will come together to discuss key issues in international trade and share insights on how to navigate the evolving global marketplace.
